What is fnewz?

fnewz is a live world news map that visualises geo-tagged headlines from around the globe using GDELT GEO 2.0. It combines an interactive map, heat layers, and a responsive sidebar to help you quickly see where the world is talking about what.

How it works

The application queries the public GDELT GEO 2.0 API, transforms the GeoJSON feed into news items with locations, headlines, sources, and timestamps, and then renders them directly in your browser. There is no separate backend or user account system; everything runs client-side.

fnewz is intended as a discovery and exploration tool. Important information should always be verified in the original article and through trusted sources.

Data is fetched directly from The GDELT Project. Map tiles are provided by OpenStreetMap and CARTO. All trademarks, logos, and content remain the property of their respective owners.
